Step-by-Step FET Process:
To prepare the uterus for embryo transfer, a carefully controlled hormonal protocol is initiated. This typically involves a combination of estrogen medication to thicken the uterine lining and progesterone medication to prepare the endometrium for embryo implantation. The protocol may vary depending on individual needs and circumstances.
Endometrial Preparation
Throughout the endometrial preparation phase, regular monitoring is conducted to track the development of the uterine lining. Ultrasound scans and hormonal assessments are performed to ensure the optimal thickness and receptivity of the endometrium. The timing of the embryo transfer is synchronized with the readiness of the uterus.
Monitoring and Synchronization
The FET process begins with the thawing of cryopreserved embryos. Our experienced embryologists carefully handle the frozen embryos, using specialized techniques to ensure their viability. The embryos are gradually warmed to room temperature, and their quality and developmental status are assessed.
Thawing and Preparation of Embryos
Once the endometrium has reached the desired thickness and receptivity, the frozen embryos are ready for transfer. The procedure is similar to that of fresh embryo transfer and is typically performed without the need for anesthesia. A thin catheter is used to gently place the selected embryos into the uterus. The number of embryos transferred is determined based on various factors, including embryo quality, patient age, and personal preferences.
Embryo Transfer
Following the embryo transfer, you will receive post-transfer care instructions to optimize implantation and support early pregnancy. Approximately two weeks after the transfer, a pregnancy test will be conducted to determine the success of the FET procedure.
Post-Transfer Care and Pregnancy Test
Our fertility centre is equipped with state-of-the-art cryopreservation technology, ensuring the safe and effective freezing, storage, and thawing of embryos. We adhere to stringent quality control measures to preserve the viability of your embryos throughout the freezing and thawing process.
